Subject Matter Expert

Dr. Ligia Alfaro Cruz was born in San Salvador, El Salvador and received her medical degree from the Universidad Dr. Jose Matias Delgado ECFMG in El Salvador. She obtained her pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and completed her training with fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. 

 

Dr. Alfaro Cruz currently works as an assistant professor of pediatrics at East Tennessee State University in the Department of Gastroenterology where she provides pediatric services to children across East Tennessee and surrounding areas.  Her interests include liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, functional gastroenterology disorders, nutrition education among others. 

 

Dr. Alfaro Cruz is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology as well as a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition.
